The journey from Vogue’s fashion department to running a charity that helps children affected by gang culture, crime, domestic violence, bullying, family breakdown or bereavement isn’t exactly an obvious one.

But for 58, children in UK schools, life might be very different if Benita Refson OBE – runner-up of last year’s YOU/Clarins Most Dynamisante Woman of the Year Award – had gone back to the glossy world of magazines after her own children were born.

Instead, those 58, troubled children have a place to go – literally a Place2Be, as the charity Benita set up is called – where in a dedicated r
