    Basheer Abubakar Koko, Sarkin Yakin Gwandu, was a Nigerian civil servant, who served with the NNPC, and retired as deputy managing director of Nigeria LNG in 2014.[1][2]

    Early life and education

    Basheer Koko was born on the 15th of May, 1960, to the large family of AlhajiAbubakar Koko.[3] He hails from Koko/Besse in Kebbi state, Nigeria.

    He attended the University of Ohio where he graduated with a Bachelor in Business Administration, and later obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Petroleum Economics from Oxford University in the UK.[4]

    Career

    He began his career at the Kaduna refinery in 1982 and later served several roles in the Nigerian oil industry.

    As the head of NNPC representatives, Basheer was part of the negotiating team of MOU/SPA to potential buyers of volumes from NLNG plus (Trains 4&5) from 2001 to 2003. He was appointed as the deputy managing director of Nigeria LNG in November, 2009.[5][6][7]
